Another day, another vast barrage of email messages. Peter had just closed off his teleconference with the people back on Haiti and now he was looking forward to a productive afternoon of going through his remaining emails. In the dorms. Natalie had gotten back on the island in time for her second period class. Afterwards, she'd come to the dorms to dump some trip stuff in her room - and promptly taken a short nap.

After waking up nice and groggy, she grabbed Bean's backpack again, and decided to check Peter's room before making the trek to the campsite. Just a hunch she had about how he'd be working.

Yeah, she wasn't surprised to find his door cracked. She nudged it open and stepped in without a word.

"Sorry, I was just checking something on my co--"

The rehearsed lie died as soon as Peter turned around. "Ah, Natalie. Welcome back."

"I don't warrant excuses?" Natalie drawled, half amused, as she wandered in. "Too bad, I enjoy shooting them down. Hi."

"Why would I excuse myself? You know exactly why I'm here," Peter said. "But hey."

"To amuse me." Hey, you could always live in hope. She held the backpack up. "Bean sends his undying love and adoration."

Peter rolled his eyes. "Is he still having a fit?" he asked, reaching for the backpack.

Natalie shrugged a shoulder and rubbed at one of her eyes once she'd let go of the backpack. That nap had been a mistake. "Getting impatient, by the sound of it. So, yes."

Peter heaved a great big sigh and opened the backpack for just long enough to determine its contents were what he'd asked for. "Of course he is."

Natalie wasn't even going to ask about it. Just nodded at the backpack as she pushed a loose strand of hair behind her ear before letting her hand drop back to her side. "Apparently you were lucky to get that. Something about the Thai delegation and neutral ground."

"The Thai are surrendering to China preemptively," Peter said, putting the backpack under the desk in front of him. "They just prefer to do it somewhere they won't be as easily stabbed in the back."

"Understandable," she replied, idly watching him. "Getting stabbed in the back is no one's favourite."

"Thanks, by the way," Peter added idly. "This'll come in handy."

"Good," said Natalie. A way of saying 'you're welcome', maybe. A pause, and she added, "Oh, and Bean said something else, too."

"What now?" Peter sighed, looking back up at her.

"The next step is Virlomi."

And she shrugged. Hadn't exactly had time to act on her curiosity by researching, so it meant exactly nothing to her.

"Well, that'll be interesting," Peter commented, not doing terribly great wonders for her curiosity.
