The Fisher King's kind of looked like it had a lobster face, but his height certainly made him intimidating. I'm glad they didn't used CGI.
I'm glad they didn't use CGI, either. I bet it was tempting, since the Fisher King doesn't have a lot of screen time, but the monster always looks better when it's a practical effect. And he was voiced by the guy who voiced Darth Maul! No wonder the Fisher King was appropriately menacing, vocal wise.
Peter Calpaldi + Electric guitar = AWESOME!!!
The opening bit would have been just fine without the electric guitar, but adding it on made it more fun. You can also spot the clockwork squirrel on top of the amp. :-)
O'Donnell said she dangled a colleague out of a window in anger. One assumes she didn't drop the guy out of the window.
I just watched it, and I'm a little disappointed. Most of the way through I was on the edge of my seat, especially after O'Donnell died and Clara was next. And then it was like the writer said "okay, out of time, let's wrap this up" and presto change-o, all the stakes evaporated away. The Doctor has to die because he can't change time? Not if it turns out it was a ghost hologram! Clara's next on the list? Not if the list turns out to be meaningless! And it wasn't even all a clever idea; it was just the Doctor doing it because he knew he had to do it. Yawn.
Between episodes, I figured out that Lunn wasn't attacked by a ghost because he hadn't read the message
I actually figured that out right away, and didn't realize it was supposed to be a surprise to the audience. As for the Doctor being in the casket, someone guessed that on the reactions thread to last week's episode over at doctorwho. Not sure if I would have anticipated it if I hadn't read that, but as soon as I did, I figured they were probably right. Which of course they

I can't help but imagine what this episode would have been like if it had been one part. Maybe the ending would have been better because the writer would have to tell a tighter story. Because you're right; the ending sort of comes out of nowhere. It was like they had to stretch the plot out, but it couldn't stretch far enough so they rushed the resolution.
This is the problem with two parters. They can start off with great potential, but the resolution can be a bit of a let down. And we have a whole season of this.
Two parters can be great when done well, and horrible when done badly. I actually think this could have been a wonderful two parter if the resolution had been handled better. But Pandorica Opens / Big Bang? Give me another two parter like that one.

Peter Calpadi would have to look at a tennis ball on a stick instead.

How observant of you. I was too focused on the electric guitar.

Well, either way I wouldn't have won't to get on her bad side. Too bad she was killed off because maybe being a champion would have enlighten her.
