- Ugh, I have jury duty. :-P Went through the selection today and my number was called within the first 12 people. As a jury consists of 12 people, I wasn't not going to be picked. It's only for three working days for me (as I have the Friday off), but the trial starts on my birthday and that's the last thing I want to be doing on my birthday. Alas, nothing can be done. It's a civic duty. Unfortunately, that means we're down to one admin at work, as I was supposed to cover for the other admin who's on vacation right now. I just hope the remaining admin doesn't get overwhelmed. Fingers crossed that the rest of the team actually helps her out.
- I see that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. got
renewed. 13 episodes, so not a whole season, but that's still good. I was worried it would be cancelled. I guess the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier gave the show the boost it needed. To my surprise, I saw that ABC greenlit the Agent Carter TV show, too. That's so great. Peggy's such a great character and that's an interesting time frame for the Marvel Cinematic universe. And we need more shows with strong, female leads. And the showrunners are women, too, so the show is in good hands. Entertainment Weekly has a good
article online about why Agent Carter will be awesome and I totally agree with all points.
- So that means there will be quite a few superhero/comic book TV shows in the fall. The Flash show got picked up, too, and there are a few others. I'm dubious about Gotham, though. A Batman TV show without Batman? How can you have Bat villains without Batman? A TV show strictly about Gordon in his early days sounds great, but I don't need to see Catwoman and Poison Ivy and Penguin before they became villains. I mean, how will you sustain the show? The good stuff is with Batman and his crazy villains. How they turned into villains might be interesting, but I don't know. Plus, it's on FOX and I don't trust FOX to treat it right.
- Is it bad that I hope I come down with the flu before my jury duty starts on Tuesday?
