Can I work in sweatpants all the time?

Hmm, I like this "working from home" deal. I'm in sweatpants and a hoodie and I'm checking emails. Too bad most of my job requires me to be actually present at a desk or I would do this all the time ( Read more... )

Yeah, I'm lucky that I can access a few things remotely from home. I know you can even remotely access your work computer if you're so inclined. I care, but I don't care that much. ;-)

Very true about getting distracted, but at the same time, I can listen to music as loud as I want at home and go surf the Internet on the side without anyone walking by and noticing that I'm not working. :-)

I actually just discovered that I can do way more from home than I initially thought. I really don't know if that's a good thing...

Huh, I commented earlier but I think it got deleted because LJ was doing maintenance.

Anyway, I'm not sure if I'm going to bother with any of the next-gen consoles. Really, these days, it's almost more cost-effective to just upgrade the computer. And with computer games, you can get mods that alter the gameplay in dramatic ways, often for free.

But if I was going to get one, at this point I think it'd be PS4, not XBox One. I don't like the "You have to be connected at all times and you can't sell or buy used games nah... we want every cent we can get and guess what kinect may be monitoring you and making sure you're really watching the commercials and not having too many people over" attitude they've developed recently.

Yeah, Xbox has really screwed things up for themselves. Sure, there's all that TV stuff the Xbox One can do, but I think most of that stuff won't work in Canada. I just want to be able to play video games without any restrictions. At this point, a PS4 will let me do that. I'm in no hurry to buy a new console, though, so it'll give me a chance to see things play out.

As much as I need a new computer, I don't know if I would get back into PC gaming. I've become so used to handling a controller, not a mouse and keyboard.

True, the game controller is handier, but you can get ones that work with a computer fairly cheap (in fact, a wired XBox controller can plug right into a computer... oddly enough, though, a wireless one that has a USB plug to not require batteries, does not. :P). Not all games will run with it, but plenty do, particularly ones that are already available on XBox.
