Semper Fi and Oohrah, Lance Corporal Price.

Visitation is Thursday, awaiting for additional information so we can support the family.

Lance Corporal Jonathan Kyle Price, known as Kyle to his friends, was scheduled to come home in a month, marry his fiancé and prepare for the birth of his first child. Now everything has changed.

At the time of the incident, Kyle was working security detail for the Marine engineers. Family friend Ron Riley describes what happened. He says, "They came under fire and at that point, the notification team told the family, that Kyle and his squad did what they were supposed to do and that was put themselves between them and the people they were protecting."

Kyle Price died from his injuries. He was 19 years old, just a year and half out of high school. His friend Brent Loyd says, "That's probably the most difficult part about it because everybody was so close to him, it was such a small community, and it was so soon after us just being kids."

Throughout his childhood, Kyle was involved in scouting and eventually became an Eagle Scout. He also played baseball and joined the Young Marines. His friends say the same qualities that made him a good person, made him a great Marine. Loyd says, "He loved this community. And he loved this country. And he loved his God."

For now, his family and his fiancé are mourning and this tight knit community is gathering, leaning on each other for support. But they say one thing gives them comfort: Knowing Lance Corporal Kyle Price died serving the country he loved. Riley says, "We know Kyle and we know that he was doing what he wanted to do. And he was proud of what he was doing. And he thought he was making a difference. And that means a lot to us."

Lance Corporal Kyle Price was just finishing his first tour of duty.

WOODLAWN

A 19-year-old Marine from a small town in Southern Illinois was killed by enemy fire while on guard duty in Ramadi, Iraq.

Lance Cpl. Jonathan Kyle Price, of Woodlawn, was due to return next month and planned to marry his pregnant fiancee within days of his return. Family members learned of his death Friday.

"He wanted to go over there and fight for his family and his country," said John Hunsell, Price's stepfather. Although details about his death were still sketchy, family members said they had been told Price was on security detail for Marine engineers when they came under fire.

Price was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Woodlawn High School in 2004. He was sent to Iraq in August.

"He always wanted to be in the military," said his mother Cheryl Hunsell. "From the time he was a little boy."

Ron Riley, a family friend and Price's former scoutmaster, said Price was involved in the community and his church. He played baseball in high school and joined the Young Marines. He was also part of the yearbook staff.

"He was outgoing, making friends with anybody," he said. "It would be pretty hard not to like Kyle."

Riley said friends and family had been praying for Price's safe return. The young couple had planned to be married wherever Price landed.

His fiancee, Brea Tate, said Price was excited to come home to her and a new baby.

"He would have made the best father in the world."

Their baby girl is due in March. Her name will be Madison.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Departed Comrade, veteran of war, job well done. The warfare is past. The battle is fought. The battle is won. Thou, has been crowned at last.

Semper Fidelis Lcpl. Price, thank you for your sacrifice.
