I'm still here. I'm not posting as frequently as I'd like but well my life just isn't that exciting and my computer just isn't on that much. But I'm still posting . . . The denizens of hell are probably beginning to wonder if someone installed AC while Lucifer was out of the office.
Okay so moving on.
I posted before about a d20 Modern Zombie Game. The more I think about this the better the idea seems . . . but I have no idea how or when I'll have time to make this game happen. I know it will most likely be an another Marlowe One Night Stand, but the next M.O.N.S. event has a guest GM (
palanthos) and adventure already in the works.
HMMM.... I need an excuse to plan a special game session. (Ideas welcome.)
Anyway I've been thinking about zombies. If I'm to make this fit the genre rules for zombie movies I need to change the way zombies function in game. First of all, zombies need better damage reduction and head shots as an Achilles heel. So I'm thinking DR 10/headshots. This means that most damage inflicted on the zombies will have little effect unless the PC's make a called shot to the head. I have decided on a -4 to hit penalty (-2 size, and an arbitrary -2 for the durability of the skull). Now this is a special flaw of the zombies so players may not make called shots against other foes.
Zombies also need to be infectious. Anyone who suffers a wound from a zombie's natural attacks risks being poisoned. Initial damage 1d4 Con / Secondary damage Death in 5d12 minutes. A character slain in this fashion rises in 1d4 minutes as a zombie. I'm not certain yet what DC I should use for the fortitude save but I'm thinking of keeping it on par with lycanthropy.
To keep the death rate down a bit and to maintain the cinematic flavor of the game I will most likely use the wounds/vitality optional rule.
