U-High Track
What an unforgettable night.
Last night's track meet at Ridgewood High was one I will never forget. Everyone is still talking about it. People on the team have facebook statuses about how much they love the team. It was truly something, really!
Not only did most people PR, win, and just overall run amazing races, but the team spirit was incredible. I have never in my life had my heart pound so fast as I cheered for my teammates. My absolute favorite moment was the 4X400 relay. It was the last race of the evening. While our four runners ran the race, the rest of the team ran across the field each time to cheer on our team mate at each straight-away going "aahhh wooooshhh!!!" as our running went by. Mind you, we were sprinting across the field really fast and it was tiring but it was all worth it. We won the race and broke into chants of "U-HIGH! U-HIGH!" hugging our team mates and high-fiving. It was epic. At the end of the night, we headed back to school with a the 2nd place title. We were in all good moods and I swear, it was one of my happiest moments this year, definitely a highlight. After we got back, it was really late, approaching midnight but we went to the Medici and ate anyway.
I have so much love and respect for this team. I don't want this season to ever end. In the words of one of our captains a few weeks ago, "embrace it".
I definitely am and won't let go.
