What a day!

Jan 24, 2005 22:50

Well today I would have to say was quite eventful.

To start off with I showed up at school early to see if I could get into the counsler's office for a schedule change... No luck there.

Then I have a whole new load of classes (ok only 2 new ones) which threw me off.

Mrs. Delong's Class was the best ever! We watched this movie that Dustin and Bator knew about called Salad Fingers...Its from the internet....Just search salad fingers.....I swear to god it is the creepiest most hilarious thing I have ever seen. It is an animation...lol! I loved it.

Then I had A lunch which sucks, but I sit with some cool seniors...bootleg, sted. they are nice.

Then I went through my afternoon......All the while not really haveing talked to Jess at all during the day. (It really sucks not having lunch with her so we can talk)

Theatre was great, got lots done.
We have a few more people in the class that will actually work for a change. Which is really good because we will need and USE the help for this upcoming show.

After school was chamber choir ... Uneventful.

Then a drive home also uneventful.

Going to get ready for Jess's Volleyball game....no biggie

Now for the big event.

I got home and was informed that my dad had checked into the emergency room at St. Mary's hospital. He was having some chest pain and had all the symptoms of a heart attack. Which sorta scared me....think about it.
Anywho I called him and asked him if he wanted me to come and stay with him, but he assured me that everything was fine and that if anything changed then he would call.

I continued on with my day and went and began to workout and was called upstairs and told that I had to go to the hopital with my mom. So we went and all the while I was trying to get ahold of Jess or Cait or someone so that they would know that I would not be at the Volleyball game, and to let them know what was going on.

I failed at reaching them....that was a bummer.

We got to the hopital and I helped my mom (and her bad knee) wobble into the ER (I swear sometimes I feel like the in the house....or at least the most capable ). We asked for my dad and they took us to him. When I saw him the first thing that came to mind was that he looked fine. But...haha...he wasn't. It was sorta funny seeing my 280lb father in a hopital gown though...haha.
The first thing he said was "I failed" and we were like WHAT? he repeated "I failed my EKG" which was really bad, because that means it is for sure his heart that is the source of the problems.

I immediatly began trying to lighten his spirits by making him laugh...I succeded with the rubber gloves. He was laughing, I was laughing, my mom was lauging(which was good because she seemed really nervous). I think the funniest thing though was when the Dr. came in and my dad asked if he could go to the bathroom and she said absolutely....my dad was like THANK GOD...She handed him a cup....I almost died.

Aside from all of that we know that he is getting a Cath *SP*? Tommorow....so basically today because by the time anyone reads this it will be. After the Cath they will know what is going on hopefully, and possibly send him home. (I REALLY HOPE SO because he is supposed to come to Kalamazoo with me on friday for an audition workshop, But that is selfish...I just want him better)

All of the events today made me ponder something that I heard last night while I was watching a television preacher named Joel Osteen...I like him, he has a really cool way of preaching (and at 12 am not much better is on tv) ......ANYWHO, what he said was about Time management...he told a story that went like this.

A college professor was teaching a time management class and he wanted to make a point to his students so he decided to bring in a prop.
So he entered the classroom with a tall cylindrical jar (like a pringles can) made of glass, and begain filling it with fist sized rocks that could barely fit through the opening. After putting the rocks in the jar he asked the class if the jar was full....they answered...yes.

At that point he took out some gravel and began pouring it into the jar and with some shaking he was able to fit quite a few pebbles into the jar. after doing this he asked the class if the jar was full and they replied yes....

So he pulled out some sand and poured it into the jar and got it into all of the and crevices. then he asked the class if the jar was then full...they said yes.

So he pulled out a pitcher of water and slowly poured it into the jar completely filling the jar to the brim...then he sealed the jar and asked ...What was the point of this stration?....a student answered
"To show that you can always find room in your schedule for more things"....The professor said NO..."What it was supposed to show was that you have to put your big rocks in first otherwise you will never fit them in.

After telling this story the preacher said that you need to figure out what the big rocks in your life are and prioritize for them.

But the comment that really made me think was "If you found out today that you only had six months to live how drasticly would your schedule change?" and I could immediately think of things that I would want to do or begin to do on a regular basis. So I am making a point of putting my big rocks first and creating a better life.

I encourage everyone to do the same.

Please pray for my family and especially my father as we go through a difficult time.

Thanks everybody.
