Fic Update no. 2

I broke 36k yesterday morning :) My progress is slowing, but that's okay, because I've been mainly filling in the gaps caused by my non-linear writing (a style, turps33, I've adopted during the course of writing this fic for ease of conquering scenes that were giving me trouble. I always know where I want to go, but how to get there is another matter ( Read more... )

Thanks! I was trying to give a hint of what it might be about without giving anything away fully.

Oh, trust me, this method is different to the way I approach a story. Usually I just start at the beginning and write, editing as I go. NaNoWriMo taught me it's okay not to edit along the way, but that never did anything to help with road blocks. My biggest problem has always been that if I write a huge chunk of text, I never want to go back and edit it after it's all done, because there's so much that it's overwhelming. But then the pausing and editing as I went would result in me not finishing it at all, because I'd get frustrated with the things I'd edit, or I'd realize that it wasn't going where I'd want it to. But I wanted to finish this - I want to finish it - so I decided to try something a little differently: non-linear writing. It allows me to write scenes as I'm inspired for them. Sometimes when I write, progress will halt because the scene I'm on is giving me trouble. One of those "I know where I want to go, but not how to get there" things. So, this time around, I write the scenes I want to get to, and then I can fill in the 'how to get there' blanks based on what the new scenes tell me. It's actually a lot more fulfilling (and successful!) than I expected.

Thanks! And you too, for your BBB!
