School has started, aaahhhhh!

So it's been awhile since I have posted on here, partly because I have been busy and partly because we don't have internet access, yet, at the house I am now living in. A lot has been going on, but it is late at night so I am going to keep this short.

Road Trip!!!!!
My friend Drew and I started our annual road trip to move me back down to New Mexico on Tuesday the 9th. We left a little after 7 in the morning as we were driving all the way down to Burbank, CA that day. The drive from my parents house in Washington to Burbank is about 970 miles so it was definitely going to be a long day! Me and Drew both drive fairly quickly, but not dangerously, so we expected to get there in about 15-16 hours. Drew's girlfriend and one of my friends, Mallory, apparently said to Drew on the phone that we wouldn't be able to make it there in one day, so we took it as a challenge to make it to the hotel before midnight. It was looking really, really good for awhile until we hit some snags in California. We hit rush hour traffic in Sacremento where stopped for gas and then got a little lost getting back to the freeway. Our dinner stop took way to long because there was nothing out in the middle of nowhere of California. Then for some reason as we were approach the L.A. area, there was a crap load of traffic at 11 at night on I-5. However, the race was still on and we made it into the hotel parking lot at exactly 11:59.

The next morning we stood in line to get tickets to the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. This turned out to be not very difficult at all and allowed us plenty of time to take a nap at the hotel and then drive out to Santa Monica to see the beach. After stopping for lunch, we made it back to the NBC studios at about 1:30, where a considerable line was already forming for the taping at 4:30. We ended being in about the middle of the line when all was said and done, but we didn't end up getting very good seats, because a lot of the seats were reserved for VIP's or guests of the producers or whatever. Still, me and Drew had a lot of fun, but the day was only to get better. After the taping, Jay Leno went outside to tape a Jaywalking segment in front of the studios. There were actual two college age girls from Washington also that got on the show. Drew and I however did not, probably because we looked and sounded too smart. However, after the taping was done we got to have our picture taken with Jay and he signed autographs for us too! It was really, really amazing! Then as we were walking to our car, Jay Leno drove by in one of his collector's cars and Drew saw him wave at us! That was the most amazing day I've ever had! What was also amazing was we didn't hit traffic on the way out of town and made it to Blythe on the California, Arizona border. At the hotel I got to talk to Amber on the phone, I thought of talking to her since we would be driving through Phoenix/Tempe area where she now lives, and told her all about the experience.

The next day we pretty much drove through to Albuquerque. We took U.S. 60 from Phoenix over to Socorro, which was more mountainous than I expected. When we were stopped at a construction zone, we got our first glimpse of the thunderstorm that would follow us all the way to Albuquerque it seemed. It was like we were in a hole where lightning would be all around us but not be too close to us. Finally, we made it to Albuquerque where I am living in a house with my cousin.

Band Camp
Band camp was all last week, Monday-Friday. Sean and I are the two section leaders for the trumpet section. We have 17 trumpets this year, which is really awesome. Band camp was really tiring and even caused me to get a little sick, but think we will have a very good year. On Friday night was the traditional end of band camp party. As usual there were a lot of people and a lot of alcohol there. I had a really good time, as I think most everyone did that night.

Classes
Classes have started and some seem like they'll be easy and some look kind of hard. I am taking 17 hours when you include marching band and symphonic band, so I am not going to have a lot of free time this semester. Hopefully, I can keep up with my school work and still have time to relax and have fun too.

I guess that's it for now, have a good rest of the week!
