So my computer randomly decided to not save any of the work I did on my thesis from 8pm on last night, aka 3 hours worth. That's hot, right? Yeah, not so much. So I sent out my thesis, thinking it was the right version, to my second readers who I'm supposed to "Wow" so they write me good recommendations. Unfortunately then I had to email them again and be like "Um I'm a moron and sent you the wrong version, and my computer messed up and didn't save my work, so it might be a little while . . ." Grand impression to make. Incompetence, paired with excuses. Good job. Luckily though, after shedding literally 3 tears of frustration, I ate some chocolate sent me by my mother for energy for thesis. Apparently it worked because it only took me an hour to redo the crap that had been lost. I feel like I probably left out something, or didn't re-edit some part, but that's just too bad. Plus one of my readers, Wendi Gardner emailed me back after my "oops" email saying "it's ok" with a smiley face. So that's good I guess. Now I'm in the process of using up Mandy's ink by printing out copies of my 70 page masterpiece (don't worry Mandy, I'll pay you back).
Other than the lameness that is my thesis, things are ok. I talked for 2 hours on the phone with my sister yesterday, which was awesome because I haven't talked to her for a while. It was actually a really good conversation filled with lots of gossip about family and high school aquaintances, and she didn't reprimand me for not going to grad school or whatever. She even suggested that after California I go join you in VA Carol and work at Colonial Williamsburg, and she was serious. What happened to the "Jul, you're wasting Mom's money. You need to figure out your life and actually do something useful with it" spiel? I must say I don't miss it. Plus seester is coming to visit me! Hooray! I'm excited. I've wanted her to come since freshman frigging year (which she claims not to remember, tricksy seester). But yeah, so it looks like she really is going to come.
Then I talked to my mom today and that was fun too. She told me all the horror stories of when she helped Sharon clean her house two weekends ago. So it was late april, right? And Sharon still had the Christmas tree up (massive fire hazard) as well as the empty but dirty hoedeurve (haha, good spelling) trays still out and the wrapping paper strewn about. Then they had put up Easter decorations on top of all that. And to top it all off, their frog, which they've had for years turns out to have been dead in its sludge filled cage for several months. EEEEEEW! It's sort of sad because it's proof that my aunt is really crazy, in the clinical diagnostic sense of the term, unable to take care of her household, but at the same time its amusing in a morbid and disgusting way. Ah well. It looks like Arthur (the cousin who is 11 and owns guns and is on mad drugs for agression and depression and who never goes to school) is not going to be put in foster care, but a year long mental program. So that's good news. Plus with him out of the house Mel will hopefully get some of the much-needed attention she deserves.
And then we talked about graduation, of course, which was funny because I haven't thought much about it and mom's planning everything out. She ordered announcements, which cracks me up because who in god's name is she going to send them to? Our relatives are coming and nobody else cares. Plus she put that I'm graduating with honors on them, which may not be true because I don't even know what my psych gpa is and I don't know if my thesis will be approved for honors. Oy. I told her that, but apparently it didn't sink in. Ah well. I'll have to hope that I either get honors (haha, fat chance) or that I think of some tactful/witty way of telling all the people she sends those things to that I actually am not that cool. Oh silly momzy.
So yeah, sorry if you've read this, because I really didn't have anything all that interesting to say. Haha. I'm just procrastinating while printing. Woot. Hope all your weekends are going spiffily!
