baby expenses

After doing some calculations after looking at various items we would need for a baby, I've come to the conclusion that we should have about $1000 in the savings account in order to be comfortably prepared for a newborn.  Which includes crib, mattress, sheets, clothing, breast milk necessities, car seat (those are the money makers right there!) and ( Read more... )

This is what we did when we opened our daycare: we bought all of our furniture from a second-hand baby shop. Most cities have consignment shops and second-hand shops specifically for baby and kids items -- that's the very best place to look. Check out Craigslist too.

I checked Kijiji and they have quite a lot of almost brand new looking items. Haven't looked at Craigslist yet. And there are several second-hand stores in the area, will have to check them out when the time is closer. I'm hoping buying second-hand will at least cut my estimate by half.
