Family homophobia - Brokeback Mountain and oscars
What's the polite way to tell a homophobic prick to shut up and keep his insulting comments to himself? Because, frankly, telling Dad and Mom to just shut up hasn't worked yet.
Dad's going on about how Brokeback Mountain was hyped up and its the only reason the movie is up for an oscar. He also said there were so many commercials for it simply because it was a gay movie, and Hollywood is putting it up for oscar to show they're approve of gays. What a bunch of shit. There *wasn't* that many commercials on the movie here, *because* it was a gay movie! And Hollywood doesn't have to prove anything since most of Hollywood is homophobic themselves. Dad - and Mom - don't seem to get that this movie is really making an impact with the people who watch it. That the actors and actresses were very *good* and deserve phrase.
If I get my own house, I'll have a rainbow flag up and make sure to show it proudly whenever Mom and Dad come to visit. I am sick and tired of listening to them insult homosexuals and men who aren't homosexuals, but display the stereotypical behaviour of one.
