Meeting Soi Fong

Nov 12, 2007 18:41

OOC: Soi Fong only. As the title already suggested. =PLaurian had finished her work and her training for the day. Only one thing remained for her to do: meet the new professor for Gunnery. As professor assistant for the subject, it was important for her to meet the new professor. They would work together until the Christmas holiday, after all. ( Read more... )

"Enter," Soi called out in Japanese, still not broken of the habit to sound like a Captain of the Gotei 13. "You can come in," she amended hastily in English this time looking up from her work. Her work of course consisted of cleaning and taking apart the pistol she carried in her sash with her at all times.

She motioned for Laurian to come all the way in and stood up hands clasped behind her back in a rather soldier-esque form. Somethings just didn't go away, and her military lifestyle was probably one of those things.

"What can I do for you?" Soi asked formally as she faced the assistant professor, she already had a guess, but she never went on hunches, just facts.

"I thought I should introduce myself before we met in class," Laurian responded in the same distant and formal manner. "I am Laurian Trellan. I am the professor assistant of Gunnery here until the Christmas holiday. I heard you would take the position until one of the students here is ready to become a teacher herself. And I thought it would be nice to know what you'd expect from me and if you even still need me. I mainly became professor assistant for this course, because we had no professors and I am not qualified to be called 'professor'."

"Ah yes, I was soon going to seek you out myself," Soi said putting her pistol and equipment aside to give Laurian her attention, "and since I am not quite settled all the way in, I would appreciate any help you could give me. My idea was to have a paintball or water fight and divide the class into teams so I could see them in action, while giving them some action."

As Soi was talking she gave Laurian the same penetrating look she gave to everyone new, memorizing their faces and any details that would be needed. Laurian seemed to be a capable woman with an amenable attitude, and so far Soi was pleased with the assistant she had gotten.

"What ideas or plans did you have?"

"Paintball or water fight sounds like a good plan," Laurian replied in a neutral voice. "Ralph has done something similar when the weather was still warm. If you plan to do something like that, I do think a paintball fight is to be preferred over a water fight. The weather has turned quite cold and we do not want our students to catch a cold ( ... )

"That seems like a sound plan," Soi said with a nod, it was actually a rather high compliment since being logical and well-done was all the old Captain really looked for.

"So for this coming lesson we can transform the slayer field into some sort of terrain, and let them develop or practice situational skills," Soi said reviewing everything in her mind makings sure everything sounded correct, then once again turned to Laurian for some input, which was another high compliment. Rarely did Soi let people advise her unless she deemed them worthy of such a things.

"What terrain do you suggest? Forest? Plains? Or perhaps something else?"

"Any terrain you want can be simulated by the Slayer's Field," Laurian said. "Forests, plains, jungles, buildings, it's all possible. You can add humans or monsters to the simulation as well, or let the students play in teams together as your original plan. If you want to have a look at the Slayer's Field, I can give you a quick tour around the most important functions of the field."
