More RHCS again

lord_peng1 and I were discussing last night (amongst other things) ideas behind The Rocky Horror Commedia Show. Just talking things out let me bounce ideas and brainstorm. I think before I was too focused on trying to keep the story too similar to the actual play / movie. I always knew I should just keep some of the concepts and characters but change what ( Read more... )

Y'know, there is no reason that Rocky Horror needs to be limited to Halloween weekend. You could do this in time for Springfest, or perhaps wait a year and do it next fall, a couple of weeks before RHPS. (Though I do admit, it seems most fitting to try to do it the same weekend, while people's minds are already on it.)

Well, there are reasons to focus on Halloween, though. I'm not saying they are reasons that outweigh reasons to hold it at other times, especially in this situation. Halloween is tradition - not just for us. Most RHPS casts out there aims for near Halloween to be a big show even if they do other shows; many I know will have a special show actually on Halloween even if it's not their regular schedule. And give that it's been ten years now of Rocky Horror live at CWRU near Halloween that people here think of it as tradition.

Plus, commedia is all about lauding a sponsor or patron. When I was in charge of VI I made sure to encourage people to go see the Cedar-Lee cast when they were showing Shock Treatment the following weekend (even though their cast has sometimes been irked by our existence) and to go see the stage play of Rocky Horror later in the season. I would do the ( ... )

Hm, ok. Well, perhaps then the best approach would be to ask them (the commedia/VI players) if they'd be interested. Perhaps some would, perhaps some wouldn't, but it would also give you the venue to say "hey, I'm not mad at you or at RHPS, I just feel I've been unfairly treated - but let's not dwell on that. :) "

Good luck. :) Wish I could be there (as with every commedia production you do. ;) )

Yes, you should be here! You could play in our farces! :D

Oh, speaking of clubs, I dug up some old photos of the henna workshop the CWRU Medieval Society did years ago. I didn't post them to my Flickr, though - given it's still semi-bare backs of people. Oh and bare hands - scandalous!
