Dear Diary. Today I have achieved something short of a miracle. I have resisted signing up to
reel_merlin despite realizing that not only are the two movies I'd love to Merlin-ify not taken as prompts, and Constantine hasn't been snapped up. You see, despite knowing just how kind of bad Constantine was, I always loved it, and... well. Yes. Anyway, I feel my resolve remaining firm, even though people are complete and utter traitors and encouraging me instead of stopping me when they aren't just shaking their heads at me. I will now go and bang my head against the wall some more in an attempt to knock this idea out of my head. Or at least make the plot bunnies forget that they're after me.
Anyway.
Just to give an idea of the fics I started, but haven't finished writing, I will list them below the cut along with tiny synopses.
The Loaded March series, with #10 through #15 (since, as far as I know, it will probably top out at 15) and the Loaded March Extras still need to be written. Except for #10, none of these have been written yet, and I am only, eh, maybe 20K into #10. Sorry, no synopses for these, although I've already posted a list of the Extras that I have pending for now.
Burn Albion has maybe 15K (expected: maybe 90K?) and is a dark supernatural modern AU:
On the surface, Arthur is just another club owner, except his club is no ordinary club: it's Burn Albion, one of the most popular places for a bit of partying, a lot of drinking, and loud and live rock and roll. Behind the scenes, Arthur and his men are among the few aware of the creatures that linger in the shadows at the edge of humanity, and protect their little corner of London as best they can. His job is dangerous and he can't afford close attachments outside of his trusted group, but he can't ignore the unyielding pull he feels when a broken boy with the very soul of rock and roll steps onto his stage on open mic night. The problem? Neither can the monsters.
Drive has maybe 16K (expected: 80-90K) and is a modern AU with magic:
Arthur Pendragon has a reputation every race car driver would envy: a track record of big wins, the biggest sponsors, a shop with every toy he could ever want, but he's had enough of being under his father's yoke and did the impossible. He got his engineering degree, founded his own shop, and now he's got the car to beat all cars to put on the racetrack. The only thing he doesn't have is a driver who can handle his car in the first place. Enter street racer Warlock, the man with a rep nearly as enviable as Arthur's, only it's from the wrong side of the tracks. He's driven everywhere and everything and never lost a single race, but the one thing he wants more than anything else is to go legit and clear his father's name.
Packed Powder has about 4K (expected: 40-50K) and is a modern sports AU that I blame on
kianspo, who wanted to see Merlin and Arthur in a winter sport:
Merlin Emrys has his eye on one goal: the gold medal for the biathlon at the Olympics. His coaches don't think he can make it, and Merlin tries to make a go of training on his own. Arthur Pendragon has his eye on one goal: to acquire the Emrys' innovative green energy business for his father's company. His colleagues know that Arthur's heart isn't in it. When the former RAF biathlete takes a break from work to go skiing in the Canadian wilds and literally crashes into the Olympic hopeful, everyone's goals change.
1967 Pontiac has about 15K (expected 50-60K) and is a modern AU with magic:
Ever since they were teens, Arthur and his closest friends take a couple of weeks off school and work and go off to do Man Things. They've gone mountain climbing, bungee jumping, marlin fishing, deer hunting -- but the latest challenge is for each of them to restore a classic car with their own hands and take a long drive down the coast. Arthur doesn't know a damn thing about engines, but he knows what he likes about classic cars: the handsome young mechanic.
HS_Merlin fic -- sorry, folks. It's an anon posting until they're all up, so I'm not giving any details. It will be de-anonymed, though, and once it is, I'll point you in the right direction. I believe posting for these is in May.
Big Bang fic -- yes, this has a title, and as of today it is over 100K, and, no, it's not finished yet. Grr. If you haven't read the summary over on BB, I will point you in the right direction, and the summary is still the same now as it was then.
Dragon!Fic has no official title, has barely scratched 2,500 words, has no estimated word count, and has a vague idea of an outline. I won't give a summary until I have a better idea.
These are the ones I actually have words for, but I have over twenty plot bunnies written down in brief one-liner or summary forms in a text file should I ever run out of things to write.
Geez. I really need to spay and neuter my plot bunnies.
