Hey, look at that >.> TTGL
I watched all 26 episodes (not counting ep 16) of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann in three days. I feel really dizzy right now. x__x But i'm so obsessed with the opening and ending themes. *__*
I've known about TTGl for a pretty long time. There was an article about it in the July issue of Dengeki Maoh that i bought last year (the same issue with the Ookiku Furikabutte article that first got me intrigued! lol). I wasn't too curious about it because it looked kinda silly and not too interesting. Then i saw a bunch of yaoi fanarts of it and i kinda got curious. And then finally, the thing that finally led to me watching it was the recommendation from my cousin.
My cousin, in short, is a jerk that likes to make fun of people about their interests if they are different from his and deny you a chance to defend yourself. But i love him anyway. And he rarely takes any interest in animes. But then, the last time i met him, he told me about TTGL (quote: "Hey, did you see the anime about drills?") and that he really enjoyed it and thought it was very funny.
Seeing as how my cousin only really liked a couple animes: Evangalion, Gundam Wing, Gundam Seed/Destiny, (dot)Hack, Shaman King (wat a mecha otaku...
As a whole, i think Gurren Lagann Is a really great anime. I think it's a great accomplishment that this series is really popular, especially since TTGL isn't based on anything, like a manga, beforehand. I really loved the end of the series more over the beginning. The beginning of the anime is kind of slow and not really meaningful (more comic relief), in my opinion. But the ending, after the timeskip, is really emotional and moving; I almost cried at the end of episode 26. ;__; Kamina!!! ILU!!! I think the plot and background and all the science involved in the story was well thought-out (but it was told a bit too fast).
I really love all the unique characters in Gurren Lagann. ^_^ Character variety and development always gets me going when it comes to animes. I just really love that kind of stuff. <333
