Anyone who tries to "call" me through an Internet relay phone call service, be warned: I will be quite rude with the operator, and hang up.

Does skype count as that? *was kinda hoping to seeing you online there one of these days, so we could chat - via text first though*

No, I'm talking about stuff like ip-relay.com -- it's a TTY service that you can use through the Internet instead of needing a TTY machine. My roommate called me through it yesterday and freaked my shit out bigtime.

I need some time to actually install Skype, but once school isn't kicking my ass...

So I'm confused, how does it work exactly? You type stuff, and somebody else dictates it over the phone for you? And then they type the responses? I went to that site and that is about all I can figure out. I must be completely wrong, though, because that strikes as something that would be extremely difficult to make free.

That's exactly what it is.

It's free because phone companies (and AOL's in on it too now, apparently) make gobs of money and can afford to do this if they can get one person to their website.

Also, I'm not convinced they don't record conversations and do with it what they please, which is why I'll not have people calling me through it. It's bad enough phone companies record cell phone transmissions, I don't need two companies keeping track of what I say.

Well, I finally managed to get a jabber account running again. At least I think it's running. My user ID on there is siobhan@jabber.org
