Just thinking politics aloud.
We, as a nation, have to get past the two party system if we ever want an effective government. All they do is strike bargains with each other, backdoor deals, take money from corporations, and when it comes time for elections tell us how independent they really are. There really is no choice. The problem is that in order for there to be any sort of real shake up, it has to be nationwide, right? One senator, even if they were from a larger state like Callifornia or Texas, would get shut down regularly unless they were an all important "swing vote".
I realize that was the idea behind the tea party, but it ended up getting corrupted by the GOP. I'm sure something can be figured out, right now I'm just venting.
