I, personally, want an
OpenMoko phone. What do you want to be it already runs But emacs? (speaking of which, I found a
utility that gives you emacs keybindings in pretty much every Windows application... )
But then, I'm weird. I just picked a web based address book tool because of the export tools it provides... "Sure, features are nice... but what's the exit strategy?" I think I've got a future as a technology curmudgeon.
I had a conversation today about
my backup plan with a friend of mine, and it reminded me of
this collection of industrial shredding demo videos, which has expanded quite a bit since the last time I took a look. The even have a Shred of the Month club. Last year, on my birthday, they did a refrigerator.
New laptop is treating me pretty well. Ubuntu is more or less installed and working. I still have a few things to figure out, but nothing that should be a show stopper. I've decided, though, that I'm sticking with XP as my main OS for awhile, by way of a learning experience. I'm keeping some notes, and I'll probably blog about it. XP Pro is a lot nicer than I remember Windows being. Not quite nice enough, though. I'm still going back to Linux after I'm done with this experiment.
