I finally finished my help_haiti! On the one hand, it's slightly more than a week late, which makes me feel pretty lame; on the other hand, it's over four times as long as I promised it would be, which uh. I guess that's good? Still, I know it's not about the length so much as what you do with it (HUR HUR HUR), so - yeah. I really really hope you like this, fiercynn

EEEEEEE YAY. I absolutely adore this! Harold is such a wonderful invention for the story because just like the citizens of Camelot, on the show we rarely see anyone but Merlin using magic lightly and for fun. Their scenes together reminded me a little of the happiness and freedom that Merlin showed in the episode with Freya where he could be honest with someone, but even better because it was someone who shared his powers. I love the image of Merlin and Harold wandering around the city planning pranks!

But of course, I love Merlin and Arthur's relationship best, especially with Arthur's slow realization that he doesn't believe magic is inherently bad - I loved the scene when Arthur admits that, and my heart broke a little for Merlin that he wasn't able to tell him then because it would clearly be more difficult and painful later. I was also so glad that although Harold did threaten Arthur, it still wasn't a reason for him to revert completely to hating magic unequivocally like it would have been on the show. (*curses "Sins of the Father"*) Because Arthur is really kind of awesome.

And then the getting together was FANTASTIC and HEARTWRENCHING and PERFECT, especially with the not-happily-ever-quite-yet ending that made it so much more realistic. Merlin has hope! Arthur has hope! They will be hopeful and amazing together! Together together, of course.

In conclusion: THANK YOU SO MUCH. And definitely no worries on it being late - it more than made up. SO MUCH LOVE. ♥♥♥

I AM SO FREAKING GLAD THAT YOU ENJOYED IT. I've never done anything like this before, really, I don't do yuletide or anything because I suck at deadlines (I love the wooshing noise etc) & can't deal with the ~pressure~, so this whole experience was like a big terrifying Thing for me. And then I haven't written in this fandom for more than a year and jengtrlngr I was just. yeah.
