Maxim Party review...

Feb 06, 2006 03:46

I was hesitant about going based on the winter storm warning, but thanks to some convincing from Bekk and Jeanine I decided to go to the Maxim party. I absolutely hate driving in wintery weather, but a chance to go to an invite only Maxim super bowl party was just too good to pass up. I know that had I not gone I would have regretted it.

I got to Sara's around 730 or so and Jeanine and Bekk were already there. We left shortly after since we knew the roads were gonna be messy. Jeanine drove her car with sara and Bekk road with me. Jeanine did a great job getting us there, we got right to the parking structure we needed to be at and luckily it was free to park!! The lady asked if we were on the list and then waved us in.

Once inside the building we saw hundreds of girls in line. Seriously, it would have been heaven for any guy. We stood in this line for about an hour, when finally we were near the front and this lady says to follow her in an orderly manner. She led us outside, where it was snowing pretty hard, passed out Maxim wristbands and before we knew it we were whisked inside orchestra hall and walking down an impressive red carpet. I promptly removed my coat to show my outfit off....which wasnt anything spectacular, just a backless black shirt and low riding, snug fitting black pants. It was seriously a surreal experiance, video cameras every where aimed at us, tons of cameras flashing. It was a pretty exciting way to start the party off. We get off the red carpet and walk into the party and it was decked out in Rock City decor, which was the theme of the party. We decided at this point we definitely needed a cocktail, and they were pouring them strong. I had a vodka/cran, and cool part was all the drinks were free.

We took a tour around the place, a few different rooms with different music playing. The party would have been a hell of a lot better if they would have played at least one or two electronic music tracks...ah well, we were stuck with rap and top 40. I really dont mind that music all that much, it just would have been more of a party that us girls are used to if they played a better selection.

After the second vodka cran I was feeling pretty good, and as we were walking by I see this guy I recognized from channel 7 holding a microphone. I went up to him and was like, hey, I know you, what is your name...lol, clearly i didnt know him but It was Don Shane, the sports reporter from Channel 7. He chatted wiht us for a few minutes and then asked if we wanted to be on tv. This was about 5 minutes till the 11 oclock news was gonna air. It was really neat, video camera rolling and us girls in the background behind him. I sent Andy a text to put on channel 7 to see me but I guess the cable wasnt working at his brothers house so he didnt get to see it air.

After that we mingled some more, I shook hands with Joey Fatone from Nsync, lol. He was friendly enough. We made it upstairs to the second level vip area which was cool, danced there for a bit. I think I had 3 drinks the whole time we were there, and had a couple vitamin waters for the later duration of the party. It was a nice feature to have viatamin water refridgerators set up around teh place so you could grab one whenever you wanted.

A band performed live on stage in the main room, which I don't remember who it was since we were walking all over the place. Jeanine said she saw Good Charlotte standing about 5 feet away from her. Maybe it was them who performed, although from what I heard the brief moment I was in there it didnt sound like them.

Near the end, probably near 230 as we were walking to coat check I realized I was standing right next to Richard "Rip" Hamilton from the pistons!! Pretty neat, I said hi to him and he was walking into the party. I took a picture of him with my cell phone.

All in all it was a fun night, I am definitely glad we went. I will for sure remember it forever. Party could have been improved by better music and a designated smoking area, but ahh well. People were smoking like crazy in the bathrooms. I posted a picture of Bekk and Myself that our girlfriend took of us after we finished our cigarette in the bathroom. Haha, hillarious!!

We ended the night at a coney island in Plymouth called Zack's. I had a yummy gyro and fries, we were starving! I got home around 5 am and called it a night.

Our friend took pictures from the Maxim party with her cell phone and they can be seen here: http://public.fotki.com/TTS/m_a_x_i_m_party/
