Quiet Self-Reflection Time

One thing I've learned about myself since I've been at college: I hate pretentious people. So so much. Now don't get me wrong, I've met so many wonderful intelligent people here, but there are also a lot of artsy, smarter-than-thou assholes around here... I guess anywhere you go to college, yeah? I just can't stand it when people think they are the Masters of the Universe because they are knowledgeable about certain things... like there's this girl at my scholarship lectures who asks all this questions, not to question, but to show off how much she knows. You know what I mean?

Another thing I hate is cultural pretension. Like, Jerry and I were trying to find a good Middle Eastern restaurant somewhere in Boston, and it took us a while, because most places are wicked expensive fusion cooking restaurants with the "sumptious atmosphere of a hookah den". Ah fuck, man. That's just silly.

Jerry teases me sometimes about my profound hatred of pretension. We were walking around trying to figure out where to eat one time and he was like "I know you just want to go to Super 88 or to that scuzzy pizza place you like, but I'd really like to take you somewhere nice, even if you think it's pretentious."

Wow, I really went off there. Oh well. It's always interesting when you figure out yourself every once in a while. Well, gotta go. Paycheck time! Three cheers for living hand-to-mouth!!!
