This is what you call actual bipartisanship. The Senate unanimously approved an $82 billion spending package last night to pay for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The vote was 100 to 0. The bill also includes provisions that prevent states from issuing driver's licenses to illegal aliens. Which for some unknown illogical reason a lot of people were against. Finally something sensible out of Congress on illegal aliens.
It's funny to watch these politicians on the left go on TV and make speeches about how the war in Iraq or the war on terrorism in general is wrong and that the Bush administration lied, but when it comes right down to it, they don't dare vote against sending money to the troops and financing the war effort. They know it would be political suicide to deny the troops what they need to do their jobs. Just take a look at what happend to the poodle in the 2004 elections.
Yet, if they were really against the war, shouldn't they vote against the funding for it? This nonsense about being able to "support the troops without supporting the war" is total hypocrise. How can you support our soldiers without supporting their mission?
If the left really was against the war on terrorism, then they wouldn't vote for this spending bill. But it's good that they did. Politics should never get in the way of our fighting men and women.
Well today was a complete waste of my time. I was stuck in a meeting all day. No point in me being in there at all. I don't understand why it was so important I be there. I have a full workload, and a lot to get done before I'm able to move down to the corp. office. People seem to be trying to keep me here. Much longer then I wish. I want to start the .NET project. I want to have my freedom with the way I work. I want the freedom to use the tools I want, deal with the problems my way and not deal with the political crap I've had to deal with for the past few years. I'm going to be happy when I'm able to leave JAVA behind me. Good riddance to the worst language I've ever had to deal with. So -long, goodbye and don't write. ;)
On a better note, I found out today that I had a really good review this year. (First review I've ever really had, and the first one I've had with Centech) They said I will be getting a decent raise, which will be nice. I also found out today that they may be looking at me to be Tech Lead on a .NET project coming up in 8 months to a year. That has been what I wanted to do for a long time. Become a Tech Lead on a .NET project. That would fully utilize my skillset and knowledge, and it would be a challage for me to undertake. I've never been lead on a project with more then 2 other Developers on it. So it would be interesting if that actualy comes to past. But I will be going down to the corp. office to take on a project there regardless. They need some inhouse development done, so who do they call? ME! ;)
Alright, well it's time to go home. I get to go see Sue (With her Sexy new hair cut) and Jacob, and I get to cut the back yard (Not really excited about that, but it needs to be done very badly.
BTW, it's awesome when your Dad works in the music business and you get to preview music before it even makes it out of the studio. ;) If you like Rehab's style of music, or the Rock/Rap style go get Rehab's new album when it comes out. From what I've heard so far it is awesome.
