THE PATHETIC AL GORE

Apr 28, 2005 07:43

Remember Al Gore? He served in the House, the Senate and was Vice President of the United States for 8 years. He often looked like a robot on TV...yeah, that Al Gore. Anyway, after toiling away in the political wilderness since losing (and he did lose) the presidential election in 2000, Al is back in the news.

Gore is upset that the Republicans might change the rules in the Senate to allow a simple up-or-down vote on President Bush's judicial nominees. This is the so-called "nuclear option" that would eliminate the filibuster, which at present can prevent votes from taking place with just 41 members in opposition. Al Gore's statements on the issue sound like something straight out of the Michael Moore book of talking points:

"What makes it so dangerous for our country is their willingness to do serious damage to our American democracy in order to satisfy their lust for one-party domination of all three branches of government. They seek nothing less than absolute power." Calm down, Big Al, just calm down.

Apparently Republicans winning elections and enacting the agenda upon which they ran is unacceptable to liberals like Al Gore. For a politician from a party that has been seeking absolute power through activist judges for decades to make these statements shows nothing more than absolute hypocrisy.

Or desperation...or whatever else it is that Al Gore stands for these days.
