Con Name

Aug 03, 2011 09:00

Looking for a book or film in which the law-enforcement style (or any other perceived 'good guy' role) bod either turns out to be or gets talked into becoming a criminal. Something with a snappy name I can use as a con name.

I'm sure I should know at least one, but in traditional style my mind has gone blank.

Debating maybe 'Dead Presidents'?Help

fandom: leverage, fail my brain, help! (i need somebody)

Umm, there was 'righteous kill' with deniro & pacino.

Dexter the TV show - he's in forensics but secretly a serial killer...

I just googled corrupt cops in films - came up with this:
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/street_kings/news/1720918/3/total_recall_the_10_most_corrupt_cops_in_movies/

The departed would prob be a well known one. OMG and Training Day with Denzel Washington...

hope some of that helps!

Would L.A. Confidential count? And, of course, the classic incarnations Leverage was based on, Robin Hood and the A-Team are kind of that thing. Sneakers, kind of? Burn Notice forced Michael to go "criminal", also a take on the A-Team. And The Negotiator had Samuel L Jackson going from being a hostage negotiator to taking hostages to clear his name, naturally, although I don't know if that's the dynamic you're looking for. Minority Report is the same, not talked into becoming a criminal but being "forced" to go criminal to prove he's not. (I mean.) And then there's things like Shawshank. And in Deadwood, Bullock first gets talked into becoming sheriff when he didn't want to, and then ends up taking a very pragmatic approach to things, if not entirely criminal. Smecker in Boondock Saints ends up siding with the Saints, and covering for them, but. *shrug* There just doesn't seem to be that many things where they're talked into going dirty. Maybe that's just not easy to do? I mean Neal does manage it on Peter occasionally.... But then, ( ... )

Waitaminute! Paul Ballard was talked into joining the Dollhouse. How did I pick an Alpha icon and not think of that? Although, that's just the one character from that. So.

Contexualising - this is effectively a successful take on 'We could rule together' trope which is very rarely successful. As proven from our joint inability to find examples.

In terms of the situation - this is ... a particular IYS agent... being lured into a life of crime by the criminals...

I just wanted a con name for it.
