X-Men First Class train of thought (continued)

Do we think the Xavier's move to the mansion in Westchester was to escape from the war (or threat thereof)? Kids accents change very quickly, but Charles' accent was still very strong so he can't have been there that long. Or perhaps he just wasn't interacting with anyone else. I can easily imagine a whole household being led to emigrate in order to keep their jobs with such a wealthy family. I wonder what their reactions were when Charles 'adopted' Raven. I have to wonder if his mother ever found out.

Can we maybe make some associations and wonder if his father was either involved in the early fighting or (as seems perhaps more likely) was a conscientious objecter which would have led to a certain level of stigma. I can't remember if his parents were separated or if his father died before his mother remarried into the Markos. I can see either fitting the circumstances.

I wish I could write in period. This is what I get for dropping history as soon as I could.

I really want to rewatch the first four films and check the consistency of a certain set of interactions. The glitch in canon with meeting Jean is going to be a sore spot, but I've read a couple of nice fanfixes already.
