I just finished reading Christopher Moore's "Fool". Once again, the man has done a fantastic job. Foregone conclusion, really, but still.
This book takes place in Shakespeare's "King Lear". First Person POV from the eyes of King Lear's fool. It has everything a reader and lover of the Bard could possibly ask for, including nods to a number of the plays themselves as well as other British wonderfulness. And, of course, there's always a bloody ghost.
So, go out and buy it or borrow it, and read it. You'll not be disappointed.
I shall leave you with the Warning from the beginning, as a teaser:
"This is a bawdy tale. Herein you will find gratuitous shagging, murder, spanking, maiming, treason, and heretofore unexplored heights of vulgarity and profanity, as well as non-traditional grammar, split infinitives, and the odd wank. If that sort of thing bothers you, then gentle reader pass by, for we endeavor only to entertain, not to offend. That said, if that's the sort of thing you think you might enjoy, then you have happened upon the perfect story!"
Boy, does it ever. Hit it! Hit IT!
;)
