Ya lucky, lucky bastard...

I picked up a rental last week, 'cause my car was in the shop, and I failed to remember to grab my FastTrak from my car (stupid me). So this morning, on the way into work, I swung by to grab it so's I don't have to pay cash at the toll booths. While there, I was told MY CAR WAS DONE!! So I ran to fill up the rental's gas tank, dropped it off, and went to pick up my wonderful, lovely, fantastic half-breed. (Sniff. I've missed you, you gorgeous, incredible car!)

So, total bill for the car? $1,465. Total amount that Honda picked up? $3,500.

I'm still flyin' high from that news. And my car seems SOOO much happier. Dirty, so I plan on washing her today, cleaning her up a bit.

I love my half-breed. She is absolutely wonderful. And driving around for a week in my mom's SUV and a rental has really driven home the point of just precisely how much I appreciate her. Playing up to three times as much for gas to go the same number of miles? No, thanks.

So here's to my Half-breed, and here's another to Mo at the Service dept of Mike Harvey Honda (yes, I'm so happy I'm giving a shout-out).

Happy, happy day!

PS--Mom bought me yesterday a digital recorder (like a tape recorder, only...) which is able to make MP3s. This will help me with learning lines and songs, and help C_ with her voice lessons, and after I've gotten the important things done, I'm doing a little side-project: I'll be making my own damn Books-on-tape! First up? Steven Brust's Issola. What? I have to. Okay, it won't be spectacular, and it won't be a professional job, and the first run-through will really be just a test, and it won't sound great, I'm sure (the recorder doesn't seem to pick up resonance and overtones well), but I'll be able to listen to Brust in the car, so I'll be happy. (Maybe. It depends on whether or not I like listening to myself, really. I may find I hate it.)
