by Diane Rehm, 2016.
Had to put this book on hold, and I was lucky getting it early: after all, though I'm a fan of Diane's, so are many other people. I had hoped to see her when she's previously come to Cincinnati, but I still haven't. I do have a copy of the book she wrote with her husband, Toward Commitment, but I haven't read it yet.
This book details the declining health and eventual death of her husband, John--and the aftermath. I'm guessing it's the publication of this book that led to the announcement of her retirement later this year, as she does mention that. She also describes her impetus for her involvement with the compassionate death movement.
Some of the things that I learned about her & John Rehm:
--she was born to immigrant parents
--John was born in France
--they had a son & a daughter, both of whom majored in music in college. One is now a physician; the other, a provost.
--John was a convert to Christianity, and died on the anniversary of his baptism.
