I Want You!
If you have time Monday, Tuesday, and/or Thursday from 4:30-6:00 and would like to help tutor kids, I Want You!
This will be my fifth year tutoring and every year I am more excited to go back. This is an after school youth center through my church (Calvary Baptist on 26th and Blaisdell) and on Mondays and Thursdays we invite kids from the Wittier community to come and get help with homework, have dinner, and be in a positive safe environment. At 6 they finish tutoring and serve dinner so you are free to stay and eat with the kids if you want. We work with grades k-12 and you can choose what age you want to be with.
Tuesday nights we are going to be trying a new program this year. It is for all ages trying to help kids realize their dreams and how to make them come true. I will have more information on this after I go to an orientation thing tonight but from what I have heard it is going to be really cool.
These kids are amazing and if you can fit an hour and a half per week into your schedule it is definitely worth coming.
If you can come one night a week that would be great if you want to do more that is even better. This is an excellent opportunity if you need to do community service but it is also just fun to do. I can most likely give rides if that is an issue for you. This starts next week and goes through May, on days that they have school, so if you come once a week it is about 40 hours for the whole season.
