so, Friday i decide to defragment my computer cuz it's been like a year and i was going to hang out with Krystle. several hours later, i come back and it's still going. it was near the end, when suddenly the computer shuts itself off (or restarted without prompting). when i get the computer back on, none of my icons are showing and the bar at the bottom isn't there either. i have to use the Windows Task Manager to restart again. still nothing, so i pull up WTM and get it to open Firefox. but nothing is opening. i keep getting:
"The proxy server is refusing connections
Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections.
* Check the proxy settings to make sure that they are correct.
* Contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is
working."
finally, after 20 or so minutes, my icons and the bar appear, but the bar is grat instead of blue, with blockier text. after hours of trying to get something to work (sound, network connections, freaking SOMETHING). whenever something stops responding, and i use WTM to end it, all the icons and bar disappear again. i try ad-aware and get a shitload of viruses, and restart to clean them completely. after a long time of lather, rinse, repeat, i fonally try letting it finish defragmenting. this gets me almost normal. now Firefox opens Gmail, but nothing else. for some reason IE works very slowly(except not so much for Gmail). i keep getting these pop up annoucements for something called Security Shield that i hadn't downloaded. i try downloading Spyware Doctor, but i had to pay to get any viruse deleted (apparently, it was a free estimate). i finally manage a system restore, which gets rid of Security Shield, but the computer is still running slow, or freezing/going black instead of restarting properly. i tried to purchase Norton (if i'm paying for something, it'll be something more legit), but it isn't letting the shopping cart get past confirming that i want to purchase it. tomorrow, i'll go to Best Buy and see if i can buy it there.
in other news, still unable to do much with Match, but i have winked at someone. but there's been no response. eh.
also, Mike's birthday party was Saturday, and one of Tina's friends is engaged to a British guy, who brought along some of his friends. which was wonderful to listen to.
