I think I finally broke through my mental block on how to structure my Survey paper. . . it's about damn time! Jungian archetypes can make good stepping stones . . . *smiles* Had the basic intro so long ago, and just got stuck. For a long time. Grr. But hopefully better now.
“Woman” has long been a canvas to which society affixes the pigmentation and media of its religious and moral constructs. With proprieties and decorums defining virtually all aspects of her life (speech, dress, behavior, et cetera), She has absorbed the applications and managed to simultaneously reflect an image of what society professes to value and believe and yet to remain uniquely her own entity. This has served not only to make Her a rich and multifaceted existence, but thereby also a unique tool through which the artist can condone or condemn the ways of the world. This practice is particularly poignant in the world of dramatic literature wherein there is an actual physical body (or at least the suggestion of such) to which the audience can affix vicariously through the play the applications presented by the work.
