Lovely, shiny optimism

I had a pretty nice weekend. I finally got around to watching The Color of Magic (OhmyGod, Vetenari and puppy!Wuffles) it's so awesome to see what this studio puts together for my very favorite book series (gotta remember to screenshot Hogfather...) I know they've done a Going Postal adaptation and I really want to see it. But I couldn't find it on ( Read more... )

Rowling's novel series. Read all seven o' them, every single one. Kinda disappointed by the endin' of it, particularly the demise of a certain someone who had it comin' to him since day one. I came up with a much, much worse(and fittin') fate for that bastard. Wish Rowling went with that instead, but it's her story.
Sad to say, the movie adaptations were a friggin' nightmare. Although it looks like they may, emphasis on may, finally have gotten on the right track with DH Pt. 1, I am not gonna get me hopes up.

So long as we're dispensin' opinions on swords@sorcery moviess, here's mine on the Narnia series.
Bitter truth, or careful, patronizin' diplomatic-speak? What the heck, bitter truth; I despised it.
Don't wanna go into the details, so let's just say I disliked the Narnia series for the same reasons I hated that film Stardust. Me sisters dragged me to see it with 'em. Needless to say, my relationship with 'em didn't improve afterwards.
An' after bein' forced to also see Australia(he never even FIRED his damn rifle!) an', the worst one o' all, freakin' AVATAR(I call it Dances With Smurfs), I swore NEVER, EVER, to watch a cinema film with my sisters ever again FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE.

If ye ask me, sarcastic, witty humour that Pixar has so thoroughly embraced would've been a vital contributin' factor to the quality of the films(Tangled's ending was pretty much the same as Stardust, but ye'll notice I enjoyed the Rapunzel re-make rather than the other film).
An' apparently it seems like Discworld has this brand o' humour that I love so much. Maybe I should try it out...

Ah, Pokemon. What an ingenius marketin' plan. Who knows how much money was made off this brand, in games, TV shows, movies, T-shirts, key-chains, plush toys, ornaments, cards, the list goes on an' on. Ye gotta give the Japanese credit, those guys know how to work the television industry.

So those charts yeh make NEVER work for yeh? Well, ye never know, Edison did succeed in the end. Though I wonder if ye would go the distance an' fill up three thousand sheet-papers...

Weekends like that don't come around too often, eh? Here's hopin' ye'll have more like it.

P.S. On an unrelated note, I am now watchin' the Shaman King anime. Only reason I started in the first place is 'cos Lina's Japanese voice actress is also involved in this anime. It's actually quite decent, so far.

P.P.S. Now that ye've gotten an idea of me tastes in films, do ye think maybe I should watch that Princess an' Frog film?

XD Well... just so you know, Stardust is one of my favorite movies.

Though on the other hand, I'm completely with you on Avatar. My dad made me watch it >.<

Megumi Hayashibara is in *so* much stuff.

We-ell... I *love* Princess and the Frog. It has a lot of funny moments and I think it has a Tangled-esque sense of humor (though the different setting makes a difference). It has plenty of romance though. On the other hand, I actually prefer Princess and the Frog to Tangled. Facilier is a more intriguing villain and the songs are catchier. But that's just my opinion.

Settled. I'll try an' see this twisted version of the original fairy tale then. Princess an' Frog it is.

Read the Wikiquote page for Discworld. Now I really wanna start readin' it. Mockin' stereotypes? I'm in. First Saturday I got I'ma look fer the first novel.

Wish ye luck with yer own novel, an' with the annotations for ALO. Best of Irish.

Hope you like it!

I think you'll really like Discworld. It certainly rivals Slayers for my favorite series ever.

Thanks!
