Yes!! I am finally home! We were actually supposed to get back mid-day tomorrow...but we kinda pushed it on the way back, and traffic was good for the most part. Pardon my rather scattered prattle from this point on:
The roadtrip part wasn't that bad. Jenn and I had our Zunes and Pokemon to keep us occupied. Plus we were listening to one of my favorite books on audiotape: Artemis Fowl: The Opal deception. (Imagine my shock when I walk into a Borders in Mansfield with the new Artemis Fowl book. I didn't know it was out!! I didn't buy it because I knew I wouldn't get a chance to read much on the trip and that's a book I want to DEVOUR. Reading the summary is enough to tell me that I NEED this book.)
We mostly visited family while we were there. Which is nice, but can wear you out. Everyone seems to be doing well and we weren't as swamped with visiting as we usually are (my Mom has four siblings) because we were able to see a lot of them at once. My Grandpa has actually sold his house and is moving into a retirement home. We never thought we'd see the day. He's in good health, but keeping up the house is getting to be too much. It's a shame though...he lived in that house for over fifty years. We got to see the place he'll be living now and it was really nice. Take this from someone who gets extremely depressed by retirement/nursing homes ordinarily.
The reason we took this trip was to go to my Dad's fortieth high school reunion, which was at the hotel we stayed at. I didn't go, but aparently he and my Mom had a good time. Jenn and I watched movies in our room (Thank god dad decided to get two rooms. He snores and if all four of us had to share a room I would've been very sleep deprived). We saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Enchanted (finally) and ate pizza.
Speaking of pizzas...let me speak for a minute about Bertucci's. We ate there three times during our five days in Mass. We don't have any in Illinois so we had to take advantage of it while we could. But my GOD it's so goooooood. It's just not fair that the closest one to us is in freakin' Pennsylvania.
We actually ended up seeing three movies in theatres during the course of our trip because with all that visiting we needed a little us time. We saw Wall E on the way out, which was adorable. I didn't think we'd get to see so many movies so I was really glad that we got to see The Dark Knight. I knew I'd love it but...EEE, it was awesome! We also got to see Hellboy II which was awesome as well.
We got to go to the Boston Museum of Science one day and saw a special on Pluto there and an awesome IMAX presentation of a film about Prehistoric Sea Monsters. Jenn and I are huge sea monster fans XD
They also had Tamarins and baby chicks ~<3
(We also saw a baby raccoon near the first hotel we stayed. It was so cute.)
Unfortunately we couldn't pick up my cat today because the place is closed. But we will be able to get her tomorrow morning, which is earlier than planned. I hope she's not too pissed off at me. Xena was initially terrified when we came home, but in the last hour or so I think she's accepted that we're back/remembered who we are.
I think...that's it. Except for the fact that my allergies were going crazy all through the trip. There are a lot more trees in Massachusetts! I'm not getting any relief at home since it's really dusty here. I think I might be getting sick...but right now I'm just glad to be home.
