Ran 18 miles. Am dead. It's a little depressing because I wish I could run it faster, but at the same time, I keep remembering what afrakaday told me- spring marathons aren't for time.

A little more running talk- REALLY boring unless you're a runner, but if you're a runner, could you give me feedback? )

Dee/Ellen. All they've got in common is Adama and Tigh sorta. I did write some oblique Dee/Adama once. Way, way off screen.

I'll be curious how you get them together!

Your legs must be in fabulous shape!

I went very AU for Dee/Ellen- Dee married Billy and was down on the surface during the occupation. Billy got taken prisoner and Dee went to Ellen for help and Ellen told her her strategy seemed to be working, so Dee tried it. She and Ellen comforted each other after.

My legs and butt! If the rest of my body looked like my legs and butt I'd be on the cover of a magazine :)

Ooh! Linksies! I want to read it!

Hey, at least you've great legs and a toned bottom. Though I'm sure if somewhere in your schedule (though no idea when) you did some crunches or tricep dips or something you'd be on that magazine! You must be burning a ton of calories!

I think the training plan looks great. Using GS and Delaware marathons as training runs is a good approach, and I like the taper into the 50K race week. I think this plan has a little wiggle room built in so that if you need to skip a long run or two because of family stuff or to nurse an injury, you'll still be in great shape. Like, for April 27, I would just skip the long run entirely and give yourself a rest. I don't think a 24 miler is necessary in between two marathons, you know?

Your Gaeta/Hoshi advocacy was wonderful. I was glad to try writing them for the first time!

Thanks for the feedback! I think I may just take it easier on that weekend. Or the weekend before, and do a 16 or something that weekend instead. (Given that the weekend before is Easter.) Thanks for the feedback!

And I'm so glad you gave G/H a try! I was so glad so many people did! It was fun :)

You are a CRAZY WOMAN for doing two marathons within a month AND then the 50K. Wow - who knew you became such an amazing super-runner? What is the feedback you want? I'm not sure what LSD stands for. Nor what you mean when you say the weekend runs have "a good hour" after - an hour+ run on Monday? Compared to running 20 miles, running 6 on Monday shouldn't be too bad. I mean, it looks to me like you've done a reasonable job of balancing increasing distance with some shorter runs so you're not too run-down for the actual races. Are you taking cold-water/ice baths after the long runs? I found that helped a LOT in my preparation for my first half marathon. Taking a cup of steaming hot chocolate into the tub with me helped me cope with the cold.

Good luck with your continued preparations! I'm jealous of your stamina.

Crazy is definitely what I'm feeling like right now :)

LSD is long slow distance- so nice and easy and not killing myself. My PR for a marathon is 4:55, and for Garden Spot, I don't want to run any faster than a 5:15, which is like 45 seconds/mile slower than my normal marathon pace. So by the end I should be exhausted, sure, but not that dead feeling.

I haven't been taking ice baths- so far my joints haven't bugged me and I just haven't been able to bring myself to do it :) As the weather heats up, maybe I'll try experimenting with them, though.

Thanks!

I never made it an ice bath - just too freakin' cold. But I did use 100% cold water in warmer weather, and a mix with a bit of warm water in cold weather. Enough that I could put my foot in without screaming, but it was definitely cold. I also wouldn't make it more than, say, 6" deep - enough that if I sat, it soothed hips, knees, ankles, but nothing else had to freeze to death. (Also, sometimes I would cheat and keep my knees bent out of the cold water while I was cooling hips/ankles, and would kneel for a short period of time separately. Made it more tolerable.
