Glee night. Is it scary out there?
I'm sure it is, because not only is there the episode tonight, but spoilers.
Specifically, spoilers that they're considering Kurt/Karofsky.
Personally, I can't get too worked up about it. One, it's a TV show. Two, I shipped Gaeta/Baltar, okay? I can't imagine Gaeta's arc without Gaeta/Baltar. It's not my OTP, but that doesn't mean I don't find the dynamics fascinating, even though it was so obviously such a terrible relationship for Felix.
That's really more my thing with Kurt/Karofsky. It's not "do they go there?"- it's "how do they go there?" If it's presented as this beautiful, healthy relationship, then yeah. Majorly problematic. But if they send Blaine off with Sebastian and Kurt gets depressed and kind of gets flattered by Karofsky chasing him and it's a terrible idea and everyone tries to tell him that and Kurt goes into it anyway and it gets rather unhealthy.... I think that's interesting, personally. I fully agree with
falafel_musings and several other people that Kurt/Blaine needs some conflict, because relationships need conflict to be interesting entertainment. Personally, I think they could find interesting conflict within the relationship itself, but since this is RIB and they can't think outside the triangle, there you go.
Not that I think people are wrong to be offended, mind you. I think people (in general) should wait and see what's going to happen before thinking that the sky is falling, but I do know that aspects of Karofsky's bullying were honestly triggering for some people, and I can understand where that would not be fun to deal with (to put it mildly). But I just can't get worked up that much at this point, because it could actually easily be dealt with in a way that doesn't offend me. Glee doesn't always make their couples ones we're meant to root for. Finn/Quinn, for example, has always been the "bad" relationship. For all that they're going Puck/Shelby, I think we're supposed to see it as messed up. (Erm, I hope we are, anyway.) Jesse/Rachel. Even relationships that weren't horrid, but weren't the winners, like Puck/Rachel. So yeah. If there are "endgame" (God, I hate that word) vibes off Kurt/Karofsky, not so happy. Another messed up relationship? Not so angry.
(Also- this all assumes that:
1.) They actually go through with this, and
2.) Any relationship that appears on screen makes it to the reciprocated romantic relationship point.)
anyway, yeah. There are my thoughts about the idea of them going forward with Kurt/Karofsky. And space before the episode.
Puck ignored Artie's high five? Bummer. But the costume thing made me crack up.
Wow. They really did a good job sucking the life out of this song, didn't they? I know that's what they're going for, but damn.
Inappropriate question big time. SMACK HIM DOWN RACHEL. BECAUSE HELLO, INAPPROPRIATE.
"Can't do this with your brother" would be kind of funny if I thought they'd thought about Kurt would have been happy to kiss Finn like that at one point.
"I have the house to myself." You have a brother, you know. Of course, I'm pretty sure he'd get lost. Especially since he's got a person to go to.
Blaine dancing around is so dorky. Damn, did they actually make it canon that no handjobs happened over the summer?
THANK YOU COACH FOR TELLING ARTIE'S IT NOT APPROPRIATE. Not that you should have continued the discussion.
The slow running thing is overdone already, Glee. The librarian was kind of adorable, though.
Meh. Warblers are cute, but I'm not - the evil music was kind of hysterical.
Okay. Screw Uptown Girl. I want to see Santana sort of mentoring Rachel in some way. All the critics are talking about the Blaine-Sebastian chemistry, but there's Rachel-Santana chemistry (not necessarily sexual) like whoa there. I want to see them play an older sister and younger sister for real.
Really? A Div I scout really looking at McKinley? That's got to be the most unbelievable thing in the episode. Although Artie playing matchmaker is coming close, especially since you can wank the whole idea of Cooter being there because of his crush.
Kurt being possessive is amusing as all hell. I love the hate vibes. >:) Kurt hating people is fun.
I kind of want to write the Hudmel brothers version of this. "Kurt, how much do I have to pay you to get out of here?" "Wait? I could get paid for going over to Blaine's?"
I don't suppose there's actually going to be a family photo somewhere in this room.
Oh, Rachel, sweetie.
OOOH! MIKE'S DAD!
Ouch. Ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch. Oh, Mike. Sweetie. Ouch. I wish they'd spent more time on Mike's storyline.
I like Cooter :) That was sweet.
And Tina. Tina's being wonderful right now. But damn, Glee is being like a sledgehammer with its message.
The bouncer is so not fooled, is he? (Also, it would have been kind of hysterical if the bouncer had been Brad.)
HOLY SHIT THEY DRESSED HIM LIKE BURT. I think he's even acting like Burt. I really don't want them doing the Karofsky/Kurt is a good thing thing, but wow- I suspect they dressed him like that for a reason.
The two of them have to be some of the dorkiest dancers EVER.
That car fight was one of the better scenes I've seen from the two of them. I liked that. It was realistic and see? Conflict within a couple.
Meaningful music with Artie. Not a favorite scene.
Also the accents. But damn, Santana is killing it. Puck, not so much. Which, hey, it's a high school musical. (Also, that shot of Finn in the shower was heartbreaking.)
Hmmm. The inclusion of the Jets is actually kind of interesting the way they did that. I actually really liked that.
They like that sound effect for dancing.
Wow. We get an outside view of the Hudson-Hummel house :)
There were pictures on the end table!
I have been waiting for this breakdown for a while. I'm glad to see it in a way.
The hands are very pretty.
Awww. Cute, but I think the hype really overdid it. Definitely tasteful and lovely and equal and happy though.
Final thoughts:
1.) My favorite part of the episode didn't get enough time (that would be Mike and his dad.)
2.) Good episode but overhyped for me. Also, sledgehammer subtle at certain points, although I liked Tina's monologue and that makes me want to write Tina and Burt Save the World.
3.) I really want more Finn, please. I like where his arc is going, and I want to see more. I know most of fandom hates Finn. I don't care. I still want to see where his arc is going.
