Well, Trevor slept last night, which means I slept last night, so things are better. I could have done without Trevor getting up so early, but as it is, I won't complain. I think I'm going to take him to the doctor today though, just to get his ears checked out. His nose is really running again, and two nights up like that... I think last night ( Read more... )

Glad you finally got some sleep.

I'm excited about the Remix! I almost didn't sign up (since the muses have been giving me so much trouble lately), but I seem to do my best writing when I'm on a deadline. Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.

Re Woman King . . . I'd never thought about that before, but yes. Definitely yes. The whole "mayor of Dogville" assignment would make so much more sense for someone in Gaeta's job rather than, say, a pilot (who, according to earlier seasons, should be flying 15 hour CAP's just to maintain security). I never really bought Helo as the outsider--it just doesn't feel like him. Plus, they'd already established the Gaeta/Dee friendship dynamic, so the end would have felt less like rescuing a damsel in distress and more like helping a friend. I don't begrudge Tahmoh the "Save the Girl" trope--it helped get him his roll on Dollhouse, which was awesome--but it says something that when people talk about TWK, they talk about Tahmoh as opposed to, say, Helo.

Psst . . . bunnies. See Lissa? Go catch.

Yeah, Helo the outsider... well, it worked, but not in this context. I would have liked to see more about Helo trying to balance Athena vs. the Fleet. If I can do that bunny with Helo and Hoshi, it will really bring out what I think is interesting about him. I love the idea that Hoshi is angry and doesn't want anything to do with Athena- we never see him actually voice an opinion on the Cylons, so he really could go any way you want- and then Helo is kind of stuck in a hard place because he loves Athena and he cares deeply about Gaeta, and this is the first time in a long time Gaeta's been happy and with someone that is good for him. But the whole human vs. human thing... that would have been a better plot for Gaeta. Or hell, for DEE. (Although I liked the use of Dee there, too, since we knew she was one of the few Sagittarons in the Fleet, and the fact that Robert COULD treat her with compassion because she was "one of the good ones". It added an extra layer to Dr. Robert that I found fascinating.)
