Please be well soon. Parkinson’s is more than a pain, it’s making all your interests difficult, it also takes away your pleasures. This universal aging has got to stop, it’s slowing all of us down. (My feet are getting arthritic.)
I have to have a look at this year’s FAAn Awards. I couldn’t nominate very many last time. I hope I am a little more knowledgeable this time, but I’m not holding my breath.
My comment to Ray Palm’s fanzine now has a new meaning…now, after Orange Monster has ignored many far more pressing problems, and has said far too much about military takeovers of the Panama Canal and Greenland (??), plus an economic takeover of Canada. All I can say now is…
Hands off, Tubby. I am a happy and proud Canadian, and it WILL stay that way. We are NOT for sale.
There is so much more I could say…should Trump force things, and we become the 51st state of the union as he says, we will move to the UK, or Australia, or some country that might accept us as refugees.
(Just found out this evening that the officials in Greenland have arranged to meet with Trump, and I hope it’s to spit in his face. I think they are facing the same kind of existential crisis Canadians are.
Update on CUFF…Garth has shut down the fan fund, and it will return only if there is interest. There IS interest, but there are almost no SF conventions left in Canada. The newest Scientifiction from John Coker runs photos of our lunch with Susan Manchester. We presented the First Fandom plaque to Susan, which symbolizes Mike Glicksohn’s admission to FF’s Posthumous Hall of Fame. The photo is of Yvonne and Susan, photo cred to me.
We have not been in the best mood since Trump pulled this fast one. We have been a country since 1867, we have an interesting history, and we do have a lot of friends around the world. And then, have this jackass threaten to take it all away? Not on my watch.
