the madden curse

I really have to believe in curses now, after the slow start and then injury to Shaun Alexander. Yes, that's right. I'm talking about the Madden Curse. Let's review some so I can prove my point.

Madden 2000 (released in 1999)
Ahh, the lovely John Madden pointing at us. Well, if you squint, you can see Barry Sanders in the background. Well after this video game was released, he abruptly retired from football during training camp.

Madden 2001 (released in 2000)
Eddie George had a really good year in 2000, but he made a costly error in his team's first playoff game, and never really had a good season after that. I still will remember him best when I saw him in person playing for the Buckeyes, running for 314 yards in one game and winning the Heisman. I digress...

Madden 2002 (released 2001)
I played this game a shit-ton. Daunte Culpepper rocked in 2000, but his '01 season was pretty awful. He also missed 5 games due to injury and his Vikings missed the playoffs.

Madden 2003 (released in 2002)
I also played this game quite a bit. Marshall Faulk at this time was the shit. He had a string of amazing seasons right in a row, but he spent much of the year injured and was not productive at all. His team also missed the playoffs after making a Super Bowl appearance the previous season. This curse is starting to get a little bit too real.

Madden 2004 (released in 2003)
Very simple one here. Michael Vick got hurt in the preseason. He broke his leg and missed the first 11 games of the season, and needless to say, his team didn't make the playoffs.

Madden 2005 (released in 2004)
Ray Lewis had a down year, but nothing too major. He did manage to break his wrist and miss the Pro Bowl. Oh yeah, his team also missed the playoffs.

Madden 2006 (released in 2005)
After coming off probably his best season, Donovan McNabb dealt with several feuds with T.O., his team had a losing record, and he missed 7 games due to injury. Horrible year that he wants to forget.

Madden 2007 (released in 2006)
I figured Shaun Alexander would break this stupid curse, but no. He struggled the first 2 weeks of this season, and now he has a cracked bone in his foot, and will be out indefinitely. He was the league MVP last year and broke the TD-scoring record. Ok, this curse is getting ridiculous.

Talk amongst yourselves. I will give you a topic. Madden Curse, real or not, discuss.
