Leverageland stole Con1!
We got more than a little carried away with the whole mentioning leveragelandat the con thing, I remember sitting in the back shouting for teamhitterafter mizzy2kasked Aldis to give some encouragement to teamhacker and offering to stand for support with the others when they were asking questions cause I would NOT ask myself, I hate talking into microphones!
In the break on the Sunday we hit on the idea of getting pics signed to each team. Four of us put up some money then whiskeyinmindand I talked our way into the autograph room (you were only allowed through once and I already had my autographs so wasn’t technically allowed back in! I think whiskyinmind might have killed me if I’d left her alone.) I took Chris and Aldis’ pictures while she took Beth and Gina.
Gina was up first and I pushed whiskyinmind in front of me, there was logic in my mind for why she should go first but afterwards I realised I should have gone first and gotten away from the table before we told her we were the crazy girls talking about leverageland. We kinda mumbled who we were and got the pic signed, 1 down, 3 to go and the nerves calmed a little having the first one out the way.
Aldis was up next so I went first, he laughed as he signed the picture and took a minute to think of some words of encouragement, I couldn’t help but laugh at the little ‘age of the geek baby’ he put on the end, he was very sweet and even though I’m sure he has no idea what we are doing he was quite into the idea of spurring his team on.
Beth was up next and I really don't have any recollection of what she said as I was getting nervy again, I had Chris’ pic and since I’d been standing with mizzy2k when we mentioned leverageland during his talk and when I turned to leave thinking we were finished he told me not to walk away and I got very embarrassed. I was also wearing a Kane T-Shirt and he seems to like it when girls have his name on their boobs, I was very self conscious about it. It wasn’t made any better by whiskyinmindthreatening to ask the question about leveragelandand tell him I was in teamhitterand had his name on my boobs! (I know you wouldn’t have done that though :-) ) - edit - She's just emailed me to say she probably would have been so nervous she would have just blurted it out, thanks dude LoL.
Anyway, whiskyinmindsaid that Beth was very sweet and giggly. We had post-it notes on each picture with the team name so they knew who to make the pics out to an when she saw team thief she giggled and said "Oh thats you guys, Awesome!" so I guess she'll remember us for a while!
Beth got so into it when whiskyinmindgave over her autograph book to be signed she got a go teamthief message there as well.
When we got to Chris he was getting ready to head out, not sure if he wasn’t feeling well or just needed to pee (he’d been drinking beer pretty much non-stop for 2 days!), but since we were there he quickly signed our stuff. He was sweet with the pic and as he handed me the picture back he said “Keep smacking people! How’s that?” and he gave me that smile that just makes you melt, all I could say was “great thanks” and grin like an idiot! I’ve met a lot of actors, had lots of things signed but never been so nervous as handing him that picture and admitting we were the crazy chicks talking about leverageland.
All in all it was a great weekend and meeting my leveragelandfriends, even if we did all get embarrassed at somepoint and heckled each other like nuts (whiskyinmind and I fought and I mean actually fought about which team two newbies should join and who they should say referred them!), was lots of fun.
I hope they have a good guest list next year and we can do it all over again!
