SPN 7x01
So SPN did something SO AMAZING I officially love it more this season than TVD, and not just because Damon is so gross it's like there's only a True Blood equivalent of grossness to him and True Blood is manufactured by gross, so maybe it's more Damon = Alan Ball to me rn.
So other than being the most action packed and non-zzzzzzz inducing SPN premiere since S4, What was it?
SAM'S NOSE

Additionally the Westboro Baptist Church was shut down, and so was the KKK. It's like Cas *could* have been a good God, but like Death said, he was just a little boy soldier, and while he was doing small good things, in the big picture, he was just kidding himself. Dean's 'YOU STUPID LITTLE BOY WHY DIDN'T YOU LISTEN TO ME' said so much more about Dean's internal angst than I trust the writers to do. A+ Mr Ackles.
Poor Dean, why do people only sincerely apologise to him when they are sacrificing their souls for eternity and he will never see them again, so he only feels like a douche for not giving at least his forgiveness before they go.
I mean, I know emotional manipulation is a thing on this show but jeez.
I love that Dean took Castiel so hard, because um it was like a year and a half before he'd even LOOK at Sam without feeling disgust after S4. I imagine Cas taking Sam from the cage without his soul for so long and then breaking the wall and then trying to kill Sam and THEN destroying the world would be equal to four years before a phone call normally had Dean the natural time to forgive him. But now Cas is "dead," but we all know demons lie. Which I never understood, seriously, nothing will make emotionally needy people hesitate to kill you like giving them a bone their loved one is still in there. It's one reason Lucifer was a smart SOB with Dean.
Dean/Sam: made of aww. I still miss the plethora of small looks and gestures that they had S1-4, but 1) character development, and 2) writers backing away from anything that might microscopically promote wincest. But Sam was walking around that night because of him. And after? It's still because of Dean. Every second, every step, his motivation to come back is to come back to Dean. So Dean saves Sam every day, carrying him out of the fires of his own mind, by simply existing. It's something that Sam is aware of but can't find the words to say, and Dean can't put it together himself, so Dean's going to continue freaking out until some sort of understanding how Sam works now and why is reached.
It's also why I loved Sam was the one to not give up on Cas. SAM + HIS FAITH CALLBACKS = THANK YOU SHOW. But also that he knows exactly how it feels to sink so low and be TERRIFIED of it but still be too proud and TERRIFIED to ask for help.
Expecting ghost!Cas and Sam to be astral plane bffs. Maybe I can have S1 JenniferLoveHewitt!Sam again? PLEASE SHOW.
