Day 02 → Your favorite movie
This is an even LESS-fair question! But I believe that I am prepared to make my decision.
Tekkonkinkreet is a movie that ABSOLUTELY blew me away after the first watch. After watching it for the first time, I could NOT stop thinking about it. I'm STILL thinking about it.
The movie is set in the fictional city of Treasure Town. It's a crazy-colorful, ethnically-suggestive pulsar of life, money, and organized crime. You get tastes of Hong Kong, Tokyo, New Delhi and even a grungy New York flavor!
The Treasure Town police are up to the gills with all manners of Mafia wars and bad goings-on. After arriving in his new precinct, a green-horn cop is quickly learning how things really work in the hustle and bustle of a glitzy cesspool like Treasure Town. No matter how many new gangs keep horning-in on the old boys of the game, the true owners of this tarnished/bejeweled land are the children.
The orphaned children of the city have taken to the streets and live by the laws of the jungle. In this case, the urban jungle. Answering to no one, they scale building, jump rooftops and cling to speeding traffic in search of other gangs to move-in on. The Cats, however, are legendary on the streets and few have lived to tell about them.
Kuro(Black) and Shiro(White) are the two brothers that make-up The Cats. Kuro is the older, stoic face of The Cats, and is a ruthless predator. He rules over the streets with an indifferent, iron fist while Shiro is his harmonic counter-balance. Shiro is the younger brother with a beyond-zen outlook on life. Completely at peace with himself and the world around him, he is on an almost nirvanic-plane of existence. They watch over each other and are looking for a way out of their danger-ridden life.
It really is a beautiful movie that is both visually-dazzling and emotially-powerful. I love this movie so, very, very, much. Two enthusiastic thumbs-up! Fine, holiday fun! :D
