It's beginning to look a lot like...

"Yup, it's a cabin, all right," Will calls out over his shoulder as he makes his way to the spot where his shelter used to be. "Not a big one, of course, but still." He tugs off his gloves and shoves them into the pocket of his purple coat, kicking the snow off of his boots as he pulls the front door open and peers in.

"It's brilliant," Bran says honestly, pushing his hood back, blinking against the glare of sun on white snow. "Very atmospheric. Real windows, even. I don't suppose you'll be lucky enough for it to stay this way once it thaws."

"Not likely," Will agrees, stepping inside. The corner where he'd slept now contained a four-poster bed piled high with quilts. There was a small wood stove in the opposite corner, bringing a smile to Will's face. "Oh, this is lovely..." He turned in a circle in the centre of the one-room cabin, spotting the books he'd brought from the compound next to the bed.

"Duw," Bran breathes, "it is a fair sight better than the last magic cottage we found ourselves in, isn't it? You won't be wanting to come back to my little room now, and I cannot really blame you."

Will doesn't disagree, at least not right away. He moves to the little window, peering out at the snow. "Mmm...it rather makes all that work I did on it worth it," he says somewhat dreamily, smiling.

Bran watches him, the corners of his lips twitching. "I hate to break it to you, boyo, but this is not all the work you did. This is the island's doing."

Will glances over and giggles. "I know that. I meant the work I did making my shelter." He peels off the horrid purple coat and hangs it on a hook by the door, kneeling by the stove. "Mmm...we should get a fire going," he muses, looking around the stove in the hope of finding some matches. He had some, when this was just a wikiup, but he's not sure where they might have gone when it became a cabin.

"Ah, I suppose it is then." Bran looks from Will to the coat to the fireplace. "Well need wood, I suppose. I've matches here somewhere."

Will nods, chewing on his lip as he gets to his feet again. "Suppose I'll see what I can find round here that's not too wet." He pulls the coat on again and heads for the door.

"I'll come with you. We can start the stove and have a cuppa," Bran says, starting out the door after him. It's all so normal, as if they'd never left home, or as close to home as this is. After all, he and Will have been in strange places together before.

Will grins at him and starts scouting beneath the trees nearby. That's the most likely place to find dry wood to burn, after all.

The dry wood they manage to find isn't exactly what one would call 'logs', but with the size of the stove waiting for them, it's probably best. "Right, that should do for a day or two," Will calls cheerfully, carrying another armload back to stack next to the fireplace.

"It ought to warm right up," Bran says, "as small as it is. And if that doesn't work, there are an awful lot of blankets on that bed. I wonder if it is as comfortable as it looks? I swear it was calling me, when we walked in." He slings an armload of wood into the crook of one elbow and starts back. "We can get some food and tea and things from the compound."

Will giggles, biting back a wild urge to suggest they test the bed. "Sounds fantastic," is all he says, cheeks pink from the cold as they get back to the cabin and pile the wood up near the stove. He sits back on his heels and looks around again. "This really is brilliant," he breathes, smiling.

If Bran thinks he's said anything untoward, he hides it well. He drops to a crouch in front of the wood stove, tugging it open. "It's clean," he says, satisfied. "Here, pass over the wood and I'll get the fire started."

Will nods and starts handing over sticks, watching quietly as Bran arranges them in the stove. When there's enough, he stands and removes his coat again, crossing to sit on the bed with a small sigh. "For once, the island's done something right," he murmurs, running a hand over the top quilt.

"With style, too," Bran agrees, rocking back on his heels as he fishes the matches out of his pocket and strikes one. "I am impressed, I must say. It's a good deal better than the last time."

"Mmm. I should probably get a few days' supplies if I'm going to stay here," Will muses, bending forward to remove his boots. "Just in case the weather takes a turn, so I'm not stranded and hungry."
