valentines day.
i'm single. and generally i'm bitter, as anyone who has ever met me knows.
but you all have to STOP ragging on valentines day! it is NOT single's awareness day... and it's not meant to make everyone who is single feel like shit. and it has NOTHING to do with love!
okay first let me explain what the purpose of valentines day is and why it HAS to be part of our society forever... it's a day of REDEMPTION! You're a dickhead to your significant other all year long and only get 3 chances during the year to make it right: Christmas, their birthday, and Valentines Day. And trust... you NEED all these chances!!! that's why i have always been a staunch supporter of valentines day... GUYS NEED IT! sure it's a burden to them... but come on... what other day can u pick a 99 cent card and a bouquet of flowers and make a year of disaster after disaster all better?? i think it's amazing! i wish there was a day where girls could make it up to guys so i could screw up all year and then in the span of an hour become "the most amazing girlfriend ever!" i suppose waiting on a guy hand and foot during the superbowl or world series would count... but fck that... those are MY sports. anyways.. that's off the topic...
some of you are going to fight with me "no jackie. you're just cynical. valentines day is about love and showing you love your partner." OH! OKAY! that's fine. i don't feel loved all year long but... on valentines day my boyfriend takes me to dinenr and tells me he loves me. that will last me for the next year. WRONG! EVERY DAY should be valentines day. i dont mean everyday has to be filled with chocolate and flowers and what not... but every day should be a celebration of your love! why is this one day more special? (side note: and have you noticed WHEN it is? middle of February.. without valentines day card companies would go from christmas/new years to easter... thats an asslaod of months and an assload of money to lose! can you really blame them for being capitalistic? i can't! i'd do the same thing.)
