Walkies and Sickies...

Feb 01, 2007 00:43

Well. We all went out for a walk last weekend, to the Ally Pally Bike Show.

Or, for those of you who are now looking a little confused, the Alexandra Palace Motorbike Show. Large building full of loud motors, people dressed in leather and studs, and booth babes. More on that last point later...

So, anyway, we wandered around, looking for some stuff for Tornado, since he's about grown out of the biker kit we got him a while ago off Ebay. We found a helmet, which was good, for, I think, 30. Which is excellent. The gentleman selling it didn't have any boots in Tornado's size, and suggested that nobody else would, either. We looked around some, found a pair of gloves in his size (under a pile of other gloves in "too large for daddy" sizes) and asked after boots again. No go - in fact, they opined that one would have to spend 200 or so on the net. So, we wandered around some more (hey, it's a big place :-) ) and met up with the GrinFactor stall. Now, we had to stop, since Tornado was already wearing one of their shirts. We picked a couple of new shirts for him, and took them over, chatted to the guy in the stall. He mentioned that they've been very slow to take off, since it takes them upwards of 3 grand to set up a new design, but as they've got a big range now, they're starting to get some interest from NZ and US way, and picking up nicely, boy, isn't that a nice shirt, he's just growing out of it you say, have another one in the same design, only bigger, oh, and pick one each off the rack...

Her Lovely Self (as labelled by MM, only in reference to his, not mine) picked one, but there weren't any in the design I would have preferred:

So I settled for a cup with:

(Both pinched from www.grinfactor.com - if that fails, I'll host em, let me know...)

Note that we ended up with a mug and three shirts, for approx the cost of a shirt and a mug. And I may have miscounted the shirts - it might have been four. Nice guy... pity he didn't have the "I'm not afraid of the dark - the dark's afraid of me" around...

And we went on our way. Around the corner, we spotted a single boot in child size attached to a stall. Upon asked, they had a shelf of them in back, so fished out three, in sequence, as we found each one didn't fit, to get one pair that did. For 30. (Remember the quote earlier? Rock On.)

So, having more or less had our fill, and the show being closing not too much later, we trundled on home. HLS wandered off to a dinner out, and Tornado and I went home, had dinner, and went to bed. More or less. Tornado wasn't feeling too well, a bit tired, and complaining of a sore tummy, so, yeah.

Somewhat later that evening, after HLS came home, she went in to check on him and discovered he'd, whilst lying on his side, thrown up all over his pillow. And teddies. And bed (his big digger bed, remember)... After cleaning that up, putting him in the bath, and cleaning up... he threw up again in the bath.

Overnight, he basically threw up every 90 minutes all night. We didn't get much sleep, although he -was- very, -very- good about the bucket. Poor chap. There were also problems at the other end of the alimentary canal. :-/

Anyway, so he had Monday off. Tuesday, he was mostly recovered, and went back to school. And, ah, fell asleep. Apparently he slept through one of the play breaks. He -might- have been a bit tired. So he stayed home Wednesday.

I wouldn't have gone into such detail, except, well... on Tuesday evening, the dosser and the Au Pair came down with the same thing. And the upper flatmate had, as I understand it, a cold. And the lower flatmate and his beau were out of town. And on Wednesday evening, HLS came home... and took up the game. :-(

This left me the only one in the house who -hasn't- come down with it yet.

I dread to think what's going to happen. I've already had two days working from home this week.... And I don't know if anyone other than me will be in a fit state to get Tornado to school tomorrow... or watch him if he doesn't go...

Anyone got a room I can borrow for a few days? :)
