pendant verses Mere... pombagiraOctober 10 2011, 22:29:29 UTC
i had some thoughts about this so figured i would share and you can take or leave as it suites.
ok, so traditionally green stone pendants have to be given right, so given that it is your wife that gave you said pendant has i believe meaning above and beyond what the stuff your link pointed at. it is a sign of great mana and respect from the person who give the ponamui pendant to the person receiving.. and given that it is your wife i figure a large amount of love to.
in the shape of a mere, but an actual mere, (unless you are Lilliputian) so the mere is about leadership, not so much with hitting but more to do with leadership and respect earned, or perhaps mana earned through good leadership..
also Ponamui could be considered Aroha, the aroha of New Zealand, given in pendant from it is often aroha and mana from the person giving, but also about the aroha and mana from the place where the Ponamui was found and carved.
and finally i was told many years ago, that to wear your Ponamui close to your skin was to give yourself aroha and mana, but to wear it outside of your clothes was to offer such things to your community and world around you..
of course it could also just be a pretty green rock to hang around your neck.. but perhaps not so much.
