(...or not really, but honestly it feels like it sometimes)
Does anyone still use livejournal? I guess, but it seems like all the fandom stuff (or at least the fandom stuff that I am interested in/aware of) has moved away, and moved away years ago.
It's kind of depressing, trawling through old journals and communities hunting down fics. Half of it ends up being friends locked (understandable, really) or the accounts are deleted and purged (so sad). Then there are the rec lists with broken links and error links, and you keep running into the same fic recs that you try so hard to find but they seemingly don't exist on the internet anymore. Sigh. Reading fanfic is so hard sometimes /s.
It's that weird thing of joining a fandom late, or at least only starting to read fanfic late, especially when the heyday of the fandom was 10+ years ago. The feeling of missing out, I guess, or the thought of "if only I'd been aware of this thing or that thing at that time...". But ten years ago I was a literal child and not only did I not have the internet access to feverishly read fics like I do know, but I didn't even know of the existence of livejournal (or a03 or fanfiction.net or dreamwidth, etc.). And I had never watched (or even heard of) most of the things that I'm now a fan of.
Reading old fanfics and going through all the old communities and journals that were last updated in 2014 (or earlier) makes me feel really weirdly nostalgic for a section of fandom that I just missed.
