Shoes & shoe-shopping logic

Aug 16, 2007 12:22

For several months now, I've been wanting to invest in a pair of Stuart Weitzman shoes even if I had to pay full price. (They're one of the few higher-end shoes that carry a good selection of wide sizes.)

Knew that meant I was looking in the $250-300 range. (I have two more expensive pairs, but they were bought at 75% off.) If I was spending that much, they had to be a pair I could see myself wearing at least twice a week during the Fall/Winter season for several years. (It's all about price per usage, which makes my Bruno Maglis--that I'm so bored with now--my best shoe purchase of all time.)

So, I didn't go with my first choice.

I'd been lusting after these:

Had to tell myself that (a) I'm not convinced I could handle wearing heels like that twice a week to work, and (b) while my Fall wardrobe was probably 85% brown, brown, brown last year, I've only got two brown outfits this year and one of them insists that it be worn with my red shoes.

But still, OMG, pretty. I love the color of these.

I went with this slightly more expensive pair:

Less sexy, but still a pretty shoe.

Gray is supposed to be a hot color this fall and I've read enough commentary lately on Manolo for the Big Girl (actually, now that I think about it, I think these were featured there in another color) and The Pretty Pear to think throwing gray shoes into the mix might be a little more interesting than my perpetual black skirts & shoes routine. (I pretty much wear black skirts three days a week.)

If they fit well, they're also bound to be more comfortable than the top pair.

Let's see how it goes! :)

(And, yes, while I don't aim for a sexy look at work, I always end up wanting to buy the sexy shoes...)

fashion:shoes!, fashion!
