Bought Odin Sphere this weekend. Played it during the day after that insomnia (so I wouldn't sleep during the day and further mess myself up).
Gotta say it's not much like anything else I've ever played. I've only played a couple side-scrolling RPGs, and this feels nothing like them so far. It looks pretty cool. If Okami was being in a Japanese painting? This is being in a fancy, child's pop-up book.
The gameplay is tricking me up a little because the square button is the attack button. I'm so not used to that. The square button is usually the least-used button and sometimes I end up just jumping at my enemies repeatedly because my thumb's slipped down to its normal spot. It does seem like I need to attack more strategically than most RPGs require. That's a good thing.
Will say more once I get to play another character.
